Munch Mancini, ex-street person and current garage mechanic, takes her adoptive daughter Asia to meet the little girl's aunt Lisa and cousins Charlotte and Jill. After Charlotte's classmate is killed, Charlotte herself vanishes, and Munch's cop ex-boyfriend Rico arrests Lisa for warrants outstanding. Munch is left to look after Jill and Asia, try to find Charlotte, and fight her feelings for Rico.
