The Broken Hearts Club is a cleverly-wrought, suspense-filled thriller. It introduces a great continuing character, Voort -- a New York City detective with style, class, good looks and family money. His life is unexpectedly undone when a suspected seriel killer strikes, too close to home. The CLUB is behind it all: a group of men who meet for therapy in the back of a Westside tavern to talk about the women who have done them wrong. The little circle spins out of control when one of the men, known as the Banker, stalks down his ex and slashes her to pieces. As each man acts out his worst fantasies, Voort is one step behind in the case -- and nursing his own recently broken heart. What he doesn't know is that his ex goes to the therapist who started the Broken Hearts Club to begin with. Nor does he know the shrink's deeply-hidden -- and very dangerous -- secret.
