Peter Abrahams builds his simple tale slowly and methodically, and there is some sharp humor along the way (one class is titled'Superman and Man: Nietzsche and Cobain'). Readers who are patient will be rewarded. This is a cunning, sinister variation on the old story about the boy who cried wolf, and Abrahams has delivered a rock-solid piece of suspense writing.
