Young Danny disappears from his day-care center in Ithaca, New York, and after seven months his distraught mother gives up hope. Then one day he comes home--but he is very, very different from the 4-year-old who disappeared. Eventually, his mother (along with the detective who was working on the case, with whom she has fallen in love) figure out that he has been transformed into an eco-messenger who is there to warn them that Earth is in danger.
