A Case of Need

Crichton's first novel was written while he was a medical student at Harvard and published when he was only 26 years old. Under the pseudonym Jeffery Hudson, Crichton spins a medical thriller about a young Boston blue blood who dies from complications following an illegal abortion in the era before Roe versus Wade. A Case of Need is enriched with footnotes explaining medical terminology and concerns as well as appendices voicing Crichton's opinions on the medical issues of the time.
