Valley Of Bones

Cuban-American Detective Iago Xavier Jimmy Paz handles another unusual case in this sequel to TROPIC OF NIGHT, written by the former ghostwriter for Robert K. Tanenbaum's Butch Karp series. When Sudanese oilman Jabir al-Muwalid is pushed out of a hotel window, it's pretty difficult not to finger Emmylou Dideroff as the killer; she's found in his 10th-floor room just after the incident--talking to St. Catherine of Siena, no less. But Miami Detective Jimmy Paz and Dr. Lorna Wise, the psychologist assigned to her case, quickly discover that Emmylou (who claims to be innocent of the crime) is no mere murderous madwoman, and there are items both in her and in al-Muwalid's past that suggest a considerably more convoluted and far-reaching set of events surrounding the death than was immediately apparent.
