Dr. Jake Skully has been tapped by his employer, a biotechnology company, to be part of a group attempting to take DNA samples from a small Brazilian tribe who are the sole possessors of a gene that may be able to cure blindness. Although Jake's own blind son might benefit from the gene therapy, he is sufficiently disturbed by his company's ruthless drive to secure the gene at any cost--even through murder--that he teams up with an activist to protect the tribe from the company's amoral scheming.
