The Horned Man
Lawrence Miller, a British professor in New York and recently deserted by his wife, discovers that someone is living in his apartment in a sort of shadow existence, using his computer and hiding dirty linen in a pile under the bed. Convinced that the squatter is a fellow professor who disappeared not long ago, Miller also deduces that a series of brutal murders in the neighborhood are part of the story--and then that he himself is being framed for the crimes. A New York Times Notable Book for 2002.
